The author runs a freelance writing job web site. This book is a good way to introduce freelancing as a general job opportunity as well as his web site as he offers job opportunities to people who want to use writing as a source of income. This book is both education and promotion for his platform where the new writers can find jobs, which in turns profits the author.

The basic approach in the book is to leverage and collect the existing work done by others to save time for yourself. Is this ethical? The author says yes because you will be adapting the information to your own niche. But if you feel this is too "aggressive", says Lunn, refrain from doing some actions recommended in the book.

Some of the recommendations are useful but require a time commitment to do the research for your niche. The goal of the research is to locate what articles were read the most, had the most shares, have the largest number of comments. These numbers will tells you what works and does not work in your specific niche. Even if you decide not to swipe the information from the most popular writers just knowing what attracts people's attention in the area of your interest in general is useful.

The book provides links to blogs with articles about writing by other authors, which I found interesting.

Swipe This! How to Create a Killer Copywriting Arsenal Using the Competition edition by Murray Lunn Reference eBooks Reviews

This book is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to increase freelance writing income. While, at times, it may be a bit wordy and detailed for the seasoned professional, it's very much a great step-by-step walk-through for anyone struggling with networking or marketing.

"Swipe This!" is based on the concept that one should not have to reinvent the wheel in order to be successful. There are lessons to be learned from leaders in the industry and also from successful competitors.

Creatives tend to be just that -- *creative* -- and not necessarily focused on the science behind lead generation, relationship building, or networking. Murray not only provides thorough information regarding why and how the steps in the book are useful, but also provides instruction on how to set up databases and worksheets with which to call potential clients. So while you're not actually "swiping" information from others, you're bypassing "testing" what might work and going straight to implementing what actually *does* work.

Brilliant
If you have realised that Copy-writing is not easy, then this book can help immensely.

As I always say, there is a beginning before every, so thought, beginning.

This book gives the reader a clarity to approach and collect information which can be used to help yourself and form a swipe file or a clear understanding about WHAT TICKS.

A writer can have amazing confidence about what he likes, but, in truth, he should stay unbiased and only encourage those words what the reader would find an appeal to.

If there are three headings.
a. The mystic boy
b. Pertinent metal
c. Magic puzzle

the one reading these might get a tick only when they know the meaning of Mystic or pertinent or Puzzle.
But the one who chooses the heading wouldn't know which one works unless they are pretty sure about things.

This book gives a clear idea about how to choose and even more, where to find the beasts.
I've been toying with membership sites for a little over two years now. As a result, I have gradually learned many things about what makes people buy.

I decided to read a copy of this book just to see what else i could learn about "the art of selling." I have to say.... there's always something to learn.

There's just so much to copywriting. In fact, it's pretty much a never-ending journey. The overall concept applies to many demographics and audiences, but there's always small things that you *must* learn from each individual. This is where this book comes in It teaches you to read between the lines and analyze every aspect about your audience from a psychological and practical standpoint. All beautifully combined.

I suggest you grab a copy and dive into these bits and pieces that I had been missing out on. All in all, I consider myself a decent copywriter, but this book just elevated my confidence.
Swipe This! is a useful book for non-professional copywriters. I suppose a professional could use it as well, but I'm writing from my point of view. For me, the purpose of copywriting is to market my own business. I don't do it for money or for anyone else. Having said that, here are my thoughts on the book.

Swipe This! shows you how to study your competition to see what marketing tactics work for them. It gives you an idea what can work for your own marketing. The author provides a list of websites and programs that can help you organize the information you collect. There is also information on exactly what to look for, and what to keep in your swipe file. You also get in-depth information on how to analyze the data that you collect.

The book is full of useful information for copywriters. The only info in the book not to my liking is the info on networking. I don't like the idea of approaching a stranger for networking purposes unless it's a networking event. But the author admits this tactic won't appeal to everyone.

In short, this book has something to teach. If you're new to copywriting or want to market your own business, then this book is worth a read.
