I now understand what Jesus meant when He said "and blessed is he who does not take offense at Me" in Mt 116. The Greek word for offense is skandalizo, meaning scandalized. For the longest time I couldn't figure out what was so scandalizing about Jesus but this little book has helped me to understand. Jesus was revealing to us that we are not born of Adam, but of God. page 21 "Sin is a foreign entity that entangled us for a while, but it was destroyed in Jesus' servant body on the cross" Having accepted Christ in a fundamental non denominational church in 1982, I was taught all about how to behave, and that inappropriate behaviors, words, and thoughts were actually sin that I had to confess to be forgiven (works). How wonderfully liberating (yet definitely scandalizing to the legalist) to realize that Christ's death on the cross COMPLETELY paid for all sin, past, present, future, and that God has ALWAYS loved and accepted me and actually, cannot love me more. There is absolutely nothing that I can do, (including confession penance or repentance) good or bad, right or wrong, to make God turn away, to make God smile more, or to get His favor - I already have all the favor that's gettable! Eternally in Christ!
